About Our Tours
Shirat Ha'Midbar is a unique organic farm that grows medicinal herbs and spices, Moroccan Argan trees, table grapes, and various other fruits
We are located on the sand dunes of Halutza near the town of Be'er Milka
Tours of our farm feature a unique introduction to Israel's native plants and herbs
Shirat Ha'Midbar welcomes group visits. Each tour lasts approximately 90 minutes
The tours are suitable for adults as well as children over 10 years of age
- Welcoming reception, with a cold drink and desert-style tea under the shade of our palm trees.
- Introduction to Be'er Milka: The dream and its fulfillment
- Guided tour of the medicinal herb flowerbeds: A fascinating introduction to desert herbs, spices, and plants from all around the world, including their folklore and medicinal usages. We explain how Shirat Ha'Midbar is a working example of sustainable, desert agriculture.

Duration – about two hours
Each tour is conducted by Golan Cohen, Shirat Ha'Midbar's founder. Golan is a permaculture designer and an alternative medicine therapist. He is also a partner in the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies's project on the domestication of desert herbs and the saving of rare trees. Golan has much experience in providing informative and entertaining tours to many different kinds of groups.
